Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP)
Certify your workplace with the largest accreditation programme in the apparel industry, Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP)
As consumers become increasingly interested in safe and ethical workplace conditions for apparel manufacturing, social compliance in factories is now an integral part of a company’s image and brand. The lack of a process for managing ethical breaches and risks can lead to tarnished brand reputations and poor financial results. Consequently, it is important for companies to have an ethical monitoring protocol in place to ensure that unethical and unlawful treatment of employees does not occur.
Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) is the world’s largest factory-based certification programme for manufacturers of sewn products such as apparel, footwear and accessories. The WRAP programme certifies facilities for compliance to the 12 WRAP Principles, which assure safe and healthy, lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing processes throughout the world. These 12 Principles consist of compliance with laws and workplace regulations, prohibition of forced labour, prohibition of child labour, prohibition of harassment or abuse, compensation and benefits as required by law, hours of work as limited by law, prohibition of discrimination, health and safety, freedom of association and collective bargaining, environment, customs compliance, and security. The WRAP programme certificate demonstrates commitment towards socially and environmentally ethical standards and represents responsible production.
TÜV SÜD can recommend facilities for compliance with the WRAP programme for certification, enabling your company to ensure safe and healthy workplace conditions and respect for workers’ rights. We offer formal auditing as a third-party monitoring company after your company has conducted a self-assessment.
WRAP consists of a three-level programme, which awards certification to facilities in accordance to the degree of compliance with the 12 WRAP Principles:
- Platinum (Valid for 2 years):
Facilities demonstrated full compliance for three consecutive certification audits.
Gold (Valid for 1 year):
Facilities demonstrated full compliance with WRAP’s 12 Principles.
Silver (Valid for 6 months):
Facilities demonstrated substantial compliance with minor issues.
