For any road user, vehicle safety is of paramount importance. Vehicle roadworthiness and the consistent maintenance of vehicles in a safe and roadworthy condition is prime contributor to decreasing accidents and reducing fatalities.
AVTS provides a wide range of services for all road users; right from initial vehicle inspection from the MIB’s (Manufacturers, Importers and Builders), right to the regular testing of vehicles carrying passengers and goods for reward.
As a leading player in the South African vehicle testing market, our management and technical teams are highly regarded and participate regularly on standards generating working groups and on technical working groups reviewing legislation. Our early insight into legislative and standards changes will be invaluable to you, and will ensure that your vehicle (be it private or fleet) will remain complaint and roadworthy.
Our services at a glance
Roadworthy testing and issue of Certification of Roadworthiness
We provide vehicle testing services in accordance with the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996, as well as the national standard on vehicle roadworthiness, SANS 10047. Roadworthy tests are currently required on change of ownership, and for taxis and heavy vehicles annually, with a 6-monthly test required for buses. Roadworthy certificates are valid for 60 days.
|Pre-purchase assessment (Roadworthy Plus 50√)|
We also provide buyers with information about the condition of a motor vehicle before they make their purchase. This includes more than 50 additional items to the normal statutory roadworthy test.
We provide vehicle appraisal services to Motor Dealers, which consists of a pre-check prior to the vehicle being traded into the dealership. This can also be described as a Pre-Buy-Back check.
Microdot Fitment and Verification
We fit Microdots as per the requirements of the NRTA, applying 10 000 microdots to more than 50 different locations on the vehicle, ensuring that it is uniquely identifiable.
Weighing of vehicles
As part of our facilities, we have a 22m weighbridge at our Airport branch, which is registered, calibrated and compliant with the relevant requirements. Weight certificates are issued, which are normally required when vehicles need to be loaded onto the eNatis system again; or for newly built up vehicles prior to homologation.
We emboss number plates using the details from the registration certificate of the vehicles; and supply both acrylic and metal plates.
We are an accredited Training Centre, and provide training on Basic Vehicle Components, Quality Management and Examiner of Vehicles.
We provide consultancy on all aspects of the roadworthy testing industry, quality management and ISO 9001:2008 requirements.
